Runs very small!
I purchased these from Kuhl and was surprised how small they run. For pants/shorts I am usually a size 6 and sometimes a size 8. I was hoping to buy these at REI but they did not have any Splash items at all. They did have Freeflex pants and Freeflex cargo shorts so I tried those to compare sizes. In Freeflex shorts the 6 fit and the 8 was way too big. In Freeflex pants the 6 was snug and the 8 fit perfect. I read reviews on Kuhl that the Splash shorts run small. I went with the 8 and assumed that if anything it would be too big if like the Freeflex shorts or just right if like the Freeflex pants. When I got them they fit but were borderline snug. I was very surprised that an 8 would be snug for me but they did fit so I kept them and washed them. They only shrunk a tiny bit and I can probably wear them. However I purchased these for hiking and I do not like snug pants for hiking. I should have just returned them before I washed them. I am disappointed in Kuhl’s inconsistent sizing across styles and between pants and shorts of the same style. Otherwise the fabric and construction seem very nice.

These are great shorts. The stretchy makes them comfortable to both hike in or just to wear around town. I missed the original comments that told me to size up so had to return the original pair but once sized up, they are perfect. Highly recommend wish they had more colors available!

Great shorts! they look nice enough to wear on a causal running errands but are also great for hiking. Nice and stretchy. They will loosen up a bit but still size up.

So cute and flattering. I don't generally wear shorts anymore but was quite taken with these. They are flattering and the perfect length. Don't be scared away by the sizing. I have never purchased any clothes in this size before but I am going with the fit not the number. Size up friends!

Love the Splash shorts. In fact, I ordered a second pair days after receiving the first pair. The 5 1/2” inseam is the perfect length. After reading reviews, I sized up and I’m glad I did. I’m 5’3” and weigh 125. I typically wear a size 6 in Kuhl’s. I ordered a size 8. Would love to see more colors in this style.

The splash fit true as size. I wear a size 4 and fit was perfect. Red color was more "brick" red, so not too bright.
